For the second time in four years the Ridgeline High boys golfers are Utah’s 4A state champions, edging Crimson Cliffs Thursday after a two-day tournament in the wind at Lakeside Golf Course in West Bountiful.

Ridgeline won by two strokes.

In the 2021 4A tournament at Birch Creek in Smithfield, Coach Sam Lindley’s Riverhawks also won in a close finish with Crimson Cliffs.

The Riverhawks shot a 4-under 280 to take the lead in the the tournament’s first round Wednesday. In difficult conditions Thursday Ridgeline’s round of 8-over 292 was barely enough to beat the Mustangs.

With rounds of 65 Wednesday and 69 Thursday Crimson Cliffs senior Dylan Winona’s 8-under 134 earned him medalist honors, beating Ridgeline freshman Beckham Skinner by four shots.
