In a major development, India has announced that it will reopen its Embassy in Kabul soon. The new decision came 4 years after its closure. This came after a meeting with the External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Afghanistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi. EAM S Jaishankar told the visiting Taliban minister that New Delhi would upgrade its technical mission in Kabul to a full-fledged embassy.

The new decision comes as India ramps up its ties with Afghanistan. However, India hasn’t officially recognised the Taliban regime. Afghanistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi and his delegation is in India for talks.
