(NewsNation) — Israel announced that a ceasefire with Hamas officially took effect Thursday morning.
The Israel Defense Forces announced the news in post on X, writing "The Ceasefire Agreement Came Into Effect at 12:00," adding that "Since 12:00, IDF troops began positioning themselves along the updated deployment lines in preparation for the ceasefire agreement and the return of hostages."
The IDF noted that its troops in the Southern Command are deployed in the area and that the IDF will continue to "remove any immediate threat."
