TRAVERSE CITY — Disposal rates at Grand Traverse County’s septage treatment plant will increase by more than 6% as of Jan. 1 following action by the county’s Board of Public Works.
The BPW on Thursday unanimously approved the rate change following a public hearing. Disposal rates will increase by one penny per gallon starting in 2026. The new rates will be 19 cents per gallon for septic tank waste, six cents per gallon for holding tank waste, 20 cents per gallon for grease trap remains and 20 cents per gallon for what’s termed “special waste” that receives pre-treatment at the plant.
