Friday on My Mind is a highly subjective, curated rundown of five of the cooler things happening in Montreal this weekend.

Saturday at Beanfield Theatre

Jeff Tweedy’s latest album, Twilight Override, is absolutely brilliant, and the Wilco frontman somehow successfully makes the case that a three-record set is a reasonable proposition. Two of my all-time favourite three-record sets are George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass and The Clash’s Sandinista!, and I’d argue both of those have more throwaway tracks than Twilight Override. I’m not saying the Harrison and Clash albums are worse than the Tweedy record. They just have more songs that could have hit the cutting-room floor. They also had, respectively, My Sweet Lord and The Magnificent Seven, two of the best songs ever recorded.
