The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office is searching for the suspect in a Wilmington bank robbery.

At 2:09 p.m. Oct. 9, the sheriff’s office responded to the State Employee’s Credit Union at 141 Sanders Road, according to a news release.

“An unknown female, claiming to be armed, entered the bank demanding money from the teller,” the news release stated. “The female suspect fled the scene on foot south from the bank.”

Deputies are attempting to identify and locate the suspect. The woman is described as having black hair, being 5 feet, 1 inch to 5 feet, 3 inches tall and thin build. She was wearing ripped blue jeans, a white T-shirt, a black hat, black and white shoes and carrying a black bag, the sheriff’s office said.
