EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The structural health monitoring system on the Washington Bridge found no impacts to the bridge’s structural integrity.
The eastbound side of the Washington Bridge has more than 200 sensors to measure the stress and movement on the eastbound side, which now carries traffic in both directions.
Weekly reports are released and data between August 31 and September 27 show zero readings exceeding thresholds.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation also releases data on overweight trucks crossing the bridge.
According to the most recent data from the week of September 21 through September 27, 563 trucks over the 96,000 pound limit crossed the bridge.
RIDOT estimates between 77 and 80 overweight vehicles crossed per day.
