HINESBURG, Vt. (WCAX) - Life lessons in the cards in a first-of-its-kind club in Hinesburg.

It’s boosting confidence and decision-making among young women at an age when life can feel daunting.

Most people associate poker with hedging risky bets, but students at Champlain Valley Union High School are going all in on good decision-making.

Lark McCarron’s love of poker unfolded at summer camp two years ago.

“That fall, I learned about poker power and I’ve been playing ever since,” said McCarron.

Poker Power is a company that teaches women and girls to play through accessible lessons, designed for everyone from individuals to entire organizations.

It’s designed to foster self-confidence and break into a space too often perceived as masculine.
