A ceasefire in Gaza came into effect at 12 p.m. local time (5 a.m. ET), the Israeli military said, after Israel's government approved the first phase of a deal intended to bring the war to an end. Trump said he expects Israeli hostages to be released Monday or Tuesday in an exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
