Face coverings have been reinstated at two Midlands hospitals due to a rise in patients suffering from respiratory illnesses . The NHS has requested all patients and visitors in the Emergency Department at Leicester Royal Infirmary, and the Clinical Decision Unit at Glenfield Hospital, to don face masks.
The measures have been implemented to protect "vulnerable" patients and staff members. Face coverings will only be "required" in these areas of each hospital.
This move follows an increase in patients with respiratory conditions, including COVID-19 and the Stratus and Nimbus variants, according to the NHS.
