Cancer Research has announced plans to close nearly 90 stores across the UK by May 2026, the first stage of a plan to cut nearly half of its 600 high street outlets. The charity said it was cutting its retail footprint in response to rising national insurance contributions, inflationary pressures and changes in consumer behaviour. A total of 88 shops have been earmarked for closure by next May, and a further 100 are planned to close by April 2027.
These changes will affect approximately 600 staff members and up to 3,000 volunteers.
Cancer Research UK said it was committed to supporting affected staff by helping them find new job opportunities or volunteer positions if redeployment is not possible. You can see the stores closing near you by searching this interactive map:
