CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The First United Methodist Church in Iowa City plans to host a forum discussing the nation’s controversial immigration policy.
Church leaders hope to educate and inform visitors about the struggles immigrants face under immigration directive by the Trump Administration’s. They also want to encourage people to join them in advocating for undocumented immigrants.
The Department of Homeland Security has reported more than 2 million people either being removed or self-deporting from the U.S. since January.
“How can we build solidarity with those in need, those who have been living in in the shadow of society in anxiety and fear right now?” Heecheon Jeon, the pastor at United Methodist, said.
