New Delhi: The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has issued a directive reminding stakeholders that the import of drugs into India must strictly comply with Rule 43-A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945, which mandates entry only through designated notified ports.

According to the communication, no drug consignment shall be permitted entry into the country unless routed through these specified ports. The rule serves as a key regulatory measure to ensure proper oversight and quality control of imported pharmaceuticals.

The CDSCO further informed that the notified ports of entry have now been mapped with CDSCO Port Offices on ICEGATE, the Indian Customs Electronic Gateway. Accordingly, importers and customs authorities have been advised to refer all Bills of Entry (BO
