Police are trying to find a DUI suspect who led officers on a pursuit before hiding in a multi-story apartment building in Los Angeles' Koreatown neighborhood early Friday morning.

The motorist led officers on a chase through East Hollywood before exiting his vehicle on the 600 block of Irolo Street around 12:30 a.m. and fleeing on foot into the Ambassador Towers apartment building.

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said the suspect then pulled a fire alarm inside the building, prompting some residents to flee into the hallways. The spokesperson said the remaining residents were asked to shelter in place..

Officers were working to clear the building, which one witness said had 20 stories with 10 units on each floor.

No description of the suspect has been released.
