A nor'easter is expected to thrash Long Island this weekend, possibly bringing with it coastal flooding and dangerous winds and making Halloween decorations take to the skies, forecasters said.
The coastal storm is expected to have its greatest impact from Sunday to Monday, possibly leading to 1 to 2 inches of rainfall and maximum wind gusts of 40 to 46 mph on Long Island, and potential beach erosion, forecasters said. On the East End, winds could be stronger, ranging from 46 to 50 mph, officials said.
"Sunday is definitely a good day to stay inside," Faye Morrone, meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said in a phone interview on Thursday. "Given the wind, if you have any outdoor decorations, maybe for Halloween out, you’ll want to make sure that those are secure."
