This Monday is Columbus Day, a.k.a. Indigenous Peoples’ Day. In recent years, many have advocated for the holiday to be renamed Indigenous Peoples’ Day to recognize the native people of the Americas.

Pennsylvania still refers to the holiday as Columbus Day. Cities like Philadelphia (in 2021) and Pittsburgh (in 2023), however, have adopted the name change..

Some retailers and organizations will be closed for the holiday, but most businesses and attractions will remain open and operate regular hours. Here’s a rundown of what’s open and what’s not.

Rabbittransit: Operating normally

Local Government: York, Lancaster, and Adams counties are closed. Dauphin, Cumberland, Lebanon, and Perry counties are open.
