Loyola University said it best in its statement about Sister Jean Dolores Schmidt, who died at the age of 106 (read her obituary from USA TODAY Sports): She was "someone who touched the lives of so many people" in the century-plus that she lived.
MORE ON SISTER JEAN: A look back at our feature about the Loyola legend
For so many sports fans who tuned in to see Sister Jean motivating and rooting on Loyola in the men's NCAA tournament, that's true too. She was there in 2018 (in which the Ramblers made a remarkable Final Four run that ended against Michigan), 2021 and 2022, and each time, everyone from fans to coaches to the players loved to see her cheering on the team as chaplain.
So let's look back at some of her best moments in March Madness that we all loved:
2018: Sister Jean's speech before Loyola upset Tennessee
You can't tell me this didn't help.
2018: Sister Jean is hilarious talking about Charles Barkley
This was so good. What a great sense of humor.
2021: Sister Jean delivered a scouting report
This is what we loved so much.
2022: Sister Jean was back and brought another prayer (and another scouting report)
She should be COACH Sister Jean.

2022: Sister Jean throws out the first pitch at a Cubs game
We know, this isn't a March Madness moment. But it was fantastic.
