You’ve heard of the chicken crossing the road — but it was a flock of ducks that caused peak-hour traffic chaos on the Kwinana Freeway on Friday morning.

Six vehicles were caught in a multi-car collision when a fluffy family waddled across three lanes of northbound traffic near the Canning Highway on-ramp about 8am.

Adorable vision shows two adult ducks and five tiny ducklings bravely venturing across the freeway towards the train-line, prompting multiple cars to come to a halt.

Despite the congestion chaos, no one was injured in the crash.

Both adults were rescued by good Samaritans who gently coaxed them off the road, while the ducklings escaped down a water drain back to the safety of the Swan River.
