Jaipur: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has made a crucial announcement for voters to exercise their franchise in the upcoming Anta Assembly (Rajasthan) by-election. Voters whose names are listed on the electoral roll but do not possess an Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) will be allowed to vote using any one of 12 approved alternative photo ID cards.

According to a notification issued by the Commission on October 7, this provision ensures that no eligible voter faces difficulty in identification on polling day.

Chief Electoral Officer Naveen Mahajan informed that the following 12 alternative photo ID cards can be used for voting: Aadhaar card, MNREGA job card, bank or post office passbook (with photograph), health insurance smart card (under Ayushman Bharat), driving license
