Friends of Nelson will hold a public forum on “The Importance of Water” on Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at The Nelson Center in Lovingston.

Five speakers will address current and projected water supply and demand, water quality and their impacts on county residents.

Moderated by Ann Coates, Nelson County’s Soil and Water District Manager, the speakers will be: John Pierce, environmental program manager for the Monacan Indian Nation; Makayla Branham, cultural preservation manager for the Monacan Indian Nation; Robert McSwain, Nelson County Service Authority Board of Directors member and Dick Whitehead, a geologist and Nelson County historian.
