ROCKMART, Ga. —
A 6-year-old girl died after being found in a swimming pool during a school field trip to a Georgia farm.
The child was on a trip to Carlton Farms, located outside Atlanta, on Wednesday when she somehow ended up in a swimming pool.
Polk County police said a staff member from McGarity Elementary School noticed the child was missing around noon. The girl was later found unresponsive in a swimming pool beside a house on the property. Despite CPR efforts by bystanders and first responders, she died at the hospital. Officials have not released her name.
Neither police nor Paulding County school officials have commented on the incident. McGarity Elementary Principal Jamesa Hodge sent a letter to families, saying, in part, "This is a difficult time for all of us, but I know ou
