San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch hinted during a Thursday appearance on San Francisco Bay Area sports radio station KNBR that quarterback Mac Jones will start over the banged-up Brock Purdy when 4-1 San Francisco plays at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-1) on Sunday.

Lynch also addressed whether Jones' solid play amid Purdy's absences is sparking tension in the team's quarterback room this fall.

"I do wholeheartedly believe that Brock is nothing but happy for our team," Lynch explained, according to Dan Dempster of NBC Sports Bay Area. "He’s working his tail off to try to get back."
