Beltangady, Oct 10: In a daring daytime theft, unknown thieves broke into a house near Ujire Arali in Beltangady on October 9 while no one was at home, authorities said.

The house belongs to Mahabal, a resident of Arali. He had left for work in the morning, leaving the house vacant. During this time, the culprits reportedly removed a side wall of the house to enter and stole Rs 10,000 in cash and 50 grams of gold jewelry kept in a cupboard.

Belthangady police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation to trace the suspects.
