LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A pedestrian has died after they were hit by a vehicle in the northwest valley Friday morning.

Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a collision near the intersection of Lamb and Las Vegas boulevards shortly before 6 a.m.

Police said the driver of a sedan was driving north on North Las Vegas Boulevard when they hit a pedestrian in the roadway.

Police told 8 News Now the pedestrian was pronounced dead.

The driver of the sedan stayed on the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

Police said North Las Vegas Boulevard was shut down in both directions between Lamb and Walnut Road. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and find different routes.
