LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Former Louisville Metro Police officer Brett Hankison is in prison.

Hankison is at the Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix in New Jersey. He reported and was processed into the facility on Thursday, Oct. 9—his scheduled report date.

A Louisville judge rejected Hankison’s bid to postpone the start of his prison term on Monday. In its ruling, the Court said Hankison’s attorneys waited 20 days after filing his appeal to move for bond, and it said that can’t be used to postpone his report date.

Hankison was sentenced to 33 months in prison on July 21 for violating Breonna Taylor’s civil rights. He also faces three years of supervised release. His attorneys filed an appeal on Aug. 5.
