Tesco has announced an "enhanced" accessibility feature to support customers who are blind or partially sighted.

The initiative is in partnership with Be My Eyes, the global leader in accessibility technology for the visually impaired.

It will begin as a six-month pilot that will offer on-demand assistance to those that need it.

First launched on October 9, which is World Sight Day, customers will now be able to access immediate support through their smartphones.

This is by utilising accessibility technology in the supermarket chain's customer service framework.

Tesco hopes the initiative will inspire "greater confidence, independence, and ease."

It comes as the supermarket giant announced that members of its loyalty programme will now be able to buy tickets to see films
