Despite losing out on a $20 million federal grant for flood prevention earlier this year, Hampton is pushing forward with several projects aimed at ensuring the city remains resilient against climate change.
Hampton currently has $65 million invested into water resiliency projects, including more than $56 million in grant funding. Roughly $12 million of that came in fiscal year 2025, where the city managed 11 projects scattered throughout Hampton.
The city expects to start construction on three resiliency-related projects in the coming months. The three new projects include road raising along North Armistead to improve drainage and prevent flooding, a shoreline project near Mill Point to preserve coastlines, and a redesigned Honor Park that with improved drainage systems. Construction on
