Cherokee author Vanessa Lillie returned to Oklahoma this weekend to discuss her latest book, . The novel follows Oklahoma archaeologist Syd as she investigates stolen historical remains and a missing local girl while navigating the Narragansett tribal community in Rhode Island.
Lillie said her work blends historical truth with fiction and explores Indigenous perspectives often absent in mainstream storytelling. She also highlighted the growing presence of Native authors across genres, including thrillers and romance.
Lillie will participate in the at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, featuring discussions with authors Eliana Ramage and Daniel Wilson. The market will be October 11 & 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
She is also working on a new thriller set in Oklahoma.
