ST. GABRIEL, La. (WAFB) - The suspect that was arrested by the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office in connection with the fatal stabbing of a St. Gabriel police officer has been indicted.

Warren Mitchell III, 25, was indicted by a grand jury for second-degree murder on Friday, Oct. 10.

Back in July, Sheriff Brett Stassi confirmed that Mitchell, of St. Gabriel, was booked on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Captain Devin “Curly” Boutte.

Captain Boutte, 34, was found stabbed to death at a home on Legion Drive in St. Gabriel on the morning of Sunday, July 6. He had served with the St. Gabriel Police Department for many years.

The investigation is ongoing.
