State approves Barbourville and Knox property acquisitions exceeding cost limit

FRANKFORT — At the Kentucky Board of Education’s regular meeting held Oct. 1, board members approved separate requests from the Barbourville Independent and Knox County boards of education to acquire properties that exceed the 10% limitation of total project costs.

For Barbourville Independent, the request centered on the district’s acquisition of the Stivers Aquatic Center from Union College.
