Emergency management officials are advising Outer Banks visitors to consider leaving early, or arriving late, as a strong coastal storm develops this weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood advisory for Dare County and a coastal flood watch for Hatteras Island through 8 a.m. Monday ahead of the storm system expected to bring high winds and heavy rain.
“Updates and additional watches and warnings should be anticipated from the National Weather Service as the storm develops leading into the weekend and brings impacts to the area,” Dare County Emergency Management said in a Thursday night news release.
