MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — With just over three weeks remaining on the calendar before the WVU men’s basketball team opens up the regular season against Mount St. Mary’s on November 4, Ross Hodge will finally get to test the progress of his Mountaineers next weekend. WVU will face Maryland in a closed-door scrimmage. It is the first opportunity that the new head coach will have to see his squad line up against an outside opponent.

“There’s only so much you can improve on in practice when you are playing against yourselves. There’s different periods of growth. But the next part of growth for us is to actually put your whole group together and play against somebody else. Getting exposed a little bit, you can find out a lot about yourself in those moments,” Hodge said.
