SCARBOROUGH, Maine — The Maine Mariners , ECHL affiliates of the Boston Bruins, announced Friday their plans to build a new state-of-the-art practice ice arena in Scarborough’s Innovation District at The Downs.

The 58,000-square-foot facility would serve as the team’s official practice home and provide expanded ice time for schools, municipalities, and local hockey organizations, according to a news release .

Team officials said they have partnered with Hebert Development, Gorrill Palmer, and Studio Troika to submit the proposal to the Scarborough Planning Board. The project is still in its early stages and must undergo multiple approvals before construction can commence. If approved, the Mariners aim to have the arena operational in time for the 2027 hockey season.
