Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet has approved the tender for the execution of six Lift Irrigation Schemes in Sambalpur district, with an estimated execution cost of Rs. 211.87 crore and Operation & Maintenance (O&M) cost of Rs. 16.95 crore for 15 years. The project will provide irrigation to 8,507 hectares of land in the district.
The project, part of the Parbati Giri Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme, aims to create additional irrigation potential in the upland areas of Sambalpur district by lifting water from Hirakud reservoir and Bheden River. The scheme will benefit farmers in the district, enabling them to shift from high-duty paddy crops to cash crops due to its micro-irrigation compatibility.
