FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A standoff Thursday night stemmed from the suspect allegedly making threats against people and a Facebook post directed at state and federal law enforcement.

Joseph Wirges, 36, is charged with two counts of felony intimidation and one count of resisting law enforcement. He allegedly threatened to shoot his mother in March after accusing her of being the police and making “irrational statements,” according to newly filed court documents obtained by 21Investigates.

On Thursday, another person reported being threatened by Wirges, court records say. The man said Wirges told him he was going to kill the man before he, Wirges, was killed by the police.
