ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (KWQC) - The Rock Island County Passenger Rail Committee is heading to Springfield to speak before the Illinois General Assembly.

On Monday, the committee will go before the assembly to push for funding for the Chicago to Quad Cities Passenger Rail Line, according to a media release.

The committee will be joined by state leaders including:

Anusha Thotakura, Director of Citizen Action/Illinois

Lou Sandoval, CEO of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce

Tim Drea, Illinois Transportation Alliance Board Member and Illinois AFL CIO President

“We have reached out to leaders on the other end of this service in the Chicago Region because we know there is benefit for those communities as well and they have been receptive,” said Rock Island County Passenger Rail Committee Chairma
