An Iberville Grand Jury indicted for second-degree murder the man charged with the stabbing death of St. Gabriel Police Capt. Devin Boutte , 18th Judicial District Attorney Tony Clayton said in a statement.

Boutte was found stabbed to death in July at his home in St. Gabriel. Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi said that Boutte was in an "on and off domestic relationship" with the indicted man, Warren Mitchell III.

Boutte served with the St. Gabriel Police Department for 12 years.

Ten days before Boutte's murder, the sheriff had called for him to be investigated by the Louisiana Attorney General on allegations of corruption.

Detectives found crystal meth and other drugs inside his home, Stassi told WAFB after Boutte was found. He told the TV station that Mitchell told investigators
