SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -- Two people have been arrested after a drug distribution investigation in Springfield.

Springfield Police spokesperson Ryan Walsh said that detectives had been investigating the Temple Street area for alleged illegal drug distribution and a suspect, identified by police as 25-year-old Anthony Gonzalez of Springfield. The investigation led to authorities applying for and being granted a search warrant for his Canon Circle residence and his vehicle.

This week, investigators executed the warrant and found three adults, including Gonzalez, and two adults in the apartment. The search led to the recovery of approximately 549 bags of fentanyl/heroin, which weighed approximately 11 grams, nearly 500 rounds of ammunition, and a loaded large-capacity gun, which was lo
