TAMPA, Fla. — A Kentucky "child killer" was arrested in Florida after his early release from prison drew widespread backlash, according to the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

Ronald Exantus was tried for the stabbing death of 6-year-old Logan Tipton during a random home invasion in 2015 in Versailles, Kentucky. A jury found him not guilty of murder by reason of insanity in 2018.

Exantus was still sentenced to 20 years in prison for injuring members of the 6-year-old boy's family during the home invasion.

According to court records, Exantus was released on Oct. 1, 2025, after serving less than seven years of his 20-year sentence.
