Mayoral hopefuls promised to focus on core services, manage the city’s relationship with the province and protect the public purse on a crowded stage of the largest election forum to date.
Candidates were grilled on their positions regarding public safety, infill, property taxes and their competing visions for the city at a full-house public forum hosted on Oct. 9 by Taproot Magazine and Edmonton Public Library. The forum at the Milner branch Downtown was split into three sections — first answering pre-submitted questions, then answering questions from the audience and finally a discussion about the role libraries play in democracy.
