Raul Cardona pleaded guilty to manslaughter and attempted manslaughter as part of the 2022 fatal shooting of a Vermont man on Wednesday, according to court filings.
He was sentenced to four years concurrently for both and probation for 11 years.
Cardona became a suspect after the fatal shooting in 2022 of Patrick Mullinnex, 38, of Springfield, Vermont . Cardona was also accused of a separate shooting a month prior.
“I would like to apologize to the Mullinex family. I know... not sure it can change or help any pain I have caused. I just hope one day you can find it in your hearts to forgive me. I want to apologize to the town and the courts for Bennington. I want to apologize to my family for everything I put them through,” said Cardona, according to WCAX .
