During her 25 years in the education field, Maria Fabyonic has seen firsthand how teachers can change the entire course of one student’s life.
The Brashear High School educator is now throwing her energy into ensuring the vital profession is filled with teachers for years to come. Ms. Fabyonic is leading Pittsburgh Public Schools’ Emerging Educators Career and Technical Education Program, which introduces students to an education career and allows them to earn certifications and college credits while in high school.
“That’s what inspired me to help build a program where our young people can see themselves as the next generation of educators,” Ms. Fabyonic said of the impact teachers have. “The ones who will stand at the front of their own classrooms one day making that same difference.”
