FALLS COUNTY, Texas — Falls County is honoring a Sheriff's Deputy who lost his life in the line of duty.

On Friday, Oct. 10, the Falls County Sheriff's Office unveiled two tributes to fallen Deputy Matt Jones , the Deputy Matt Jones Memorial Highway and a mural in his memory at the Sheriff's Office.

Jones died in October 2019 when a vehicle hydroplaned and hit him and Riesel Police Chief Danny Krumnow while the two were helping a driver on Highway 6. Krumnow was also injured in the crash.

Dozens of people gathered to attend the unveiling of the Deputy Matt Jones Memorial Highway.
