MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — Danielle Trumble marked her first three months as Morgantown’s mayor by focusing less on sweeping political gestures and more on the work of running a city — improving communication, reviving long-stalled projects and making local government more accessible to residents.

Trumble, who represents the city’s Fifth Ward and was chosen by her fellow council members to serve as mayor in July, said the most noticeable shift from her time as a councilor has been how much her words now represent the collective voice of city leadership.

“When I speak, I’m aware that council elected me to be its representative,” Trumble said. “If I’m speaking for myself, I make sure to say, ‘as one of seven’ or ‘in my opinion.’”
