INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts will get back a key member of the offense this week, placing the role of his primary backup in question heading into Sunday’s game against the Cardinals.

Wide receiver Alec Pierce , the team’s primary deep threat and the starter at the “X” position, has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol after missing two games.

Pierce will likely return to playing roughly 60 snaps, leaving a question about how the Colts will handle second-year wide receiver Adonai Mitchell, who was benched last week after dropping the ball a few yards short of the end zone and committing a critical holding penalty in the second half of the team’s loss to the Rams.

Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen was noncommittal when asked about Mitchell’s playing time on Friday.
