A ceasefire has come into effect in the Gaza Strip ahead of the expected release of hostages as part of the US-brokered peace deal.

Palestinian families displaced since the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hamas two years ago have started returning to their destroyed homes in Gaza.

Hundreds of trucks carrying food and medical aid are expected to enter Gaza daily.
