DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - One person was found dead in a Davenport apartment fire Thursday night, crews said.
After extinguishing most of the fire in the two-story apartment building, crews said they searched all apartments and found one person dead.
Firefighters then worked to extinguish the remaining fire in the attic, according to the Davenport Fire Department.
Crews saw heavy smoke and fire from the back of the building when they responded about 10:30 p.m. to the 1700 block of West 10th Street for the fire, officials said.
Several neighbors told KWQC crews on scene Thursday night that officials told them they could not go into their apartments.
A neighbor told KWQC his fire alarm did not go off.
The Red Cross is working with 10 displaced residents, firefighters said.
