SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) -- One juvenile was struck and injured by gunfire overnight, and the Springfield Police Department is investigating.

In a press release Friday afternoon, the Springfield Police Department said that around 12:11 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to a "Shot Spotter" alert for multiple rounds fired in the 1900 block of South 19th Street. Officers arrived on the scene and located a juvenile victim who was shot during the incident.

The juvenile was treated and transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Criminal Investigations Division was called to the scene to investigate, as well as the Crime Scene Services Unit to process any evidence.

At this time, the victim remains in the care of medical staff. Police did not say whether an arrest
