Hickman County emergency officals are searching for 19 missing people after an explosion rocked an explosives manufacturing plant near McEwen Oct. 10.

The plant is about an hour west of Nashville off Interstate 40.

Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis spoke to the media several times throughout the day. He said a “very devastating blast” took place at 7:45 a.m. It encompassed an entire building, several people were unaccounted for and some have died, Davis said.

He said the scene was secure during a briefing at about 2:15 p.m.
