WILLOWICK, Ohio — A Euclid man has been sentenced to two years in prison for dragging a woman with a car during an assault at Shoregate Town Center earlier this year, Willowick police said.

Officers responded to multiple 911 calls on May 23 reporting an assault in the parking lot. When they arrived, they found an injured 21-year-old woman who had been dragged by a vehicle, police said.

Willowick paramedics treated her at the scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital.

Investigators identified the suspect as 21-year-old James Shabazz IV of Euclid. Using license plate reader technology, officers were able to locate the vehicle involved, and arrest warrants were issued May 27.

Shabazz was arrested by U.S. Marshals officers in Kent on July 3.
